Rosanna,
Thanks for your email.
As any roundabout would have wheelchair access ramps at all spokes of
the intersection, and there would be a white stopping line and
pedestrian crosswalks marked on the approach lane before entering the
roundabout, to be used when traffic or pedestrians are present, just as
we have for most city intersections. I believe these features would
answer your concerns. As on any roadway, a pedestrian entering a
crosswalk has the right of way. I have observed roundabouts being used
by drivers and pedestrians in Europe. I am sure your concerns would be
set aside once we got a little more experience with them here in the
States.
