[CCMG-Announce] Reminder to report volunteer hours

Please see the message below from Tom Seals, Chair of the MG Membership Committee:


TO ALL ACTIVE MASTER GARDENERS- AN IMPORTANT REMINDER

We wish to strongly encourage to continue to report and keep up to date on your volunteer hours and your continuing education hours for 2017 on the on-line Reporting system. Many of us love to do the volunteer activity as a Master Gardener, but few, if any, of us entered the Program because we love to report and account for our volunteer time. It is, nonetheless,  important to do so for several reasons: (1) It is the way that we confirm that you have completed the hours for your 2017 contract, (2) It is the way that we determine eligibility] for various honors and awards at the end of the year, presented at the Awards Meeting in February, (3) Perhaps the most OVERLOOKED BUT IMPORTANT FACTOR is that our total reported volunteer hours for a year presented to the larger University of Illinois Extension Office constitutes our best claim to justify the ongoing support and staffing of this Program, e.g. Master Gardeners, that we love.

Thank you for attending to this.  It is an early reminder to do so and to make sure that your volunteer activity is sufficient to complete your 2017 contract.
