[CCMG-Announce] New Extension Educator for Horticulture

Dear Master Gardeners,

I am very excited to join the horticulture team here at U of I Extension in Champaign!  Although I just started last week, I have already had the opportunity to meet a handful of you.  I look forward to meeting all of you and seeing more of the great things that you all do.

If we haven't met yet, here is little bit of information about me....  My background is primarily in arboriculture and forestry.  Prior to joining extension, I was the Area Forester for the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), covering the southern 30 counties of Illinois.  At NRCS, I worked with private landowners to help them make decisions about how to manage their forest land.  I also have experience working with steam and wetland restoration at NRCS and other private companies.  For five years, I worked as an arborist right here in Champaign, providing all aspects of residential tree care including everything from insect/disease diagnosis to pruning and removal of large shade trees to tree planting and the care of newly planted trees.  I hope to bring this diversity of experience, along with my love for teaching and learning, to all the great programs here at Extension.
