[CCMG-Announce] Idea Garden Water

Hello Master Gardeners -

As has been discussed, the Idea Garden water is currently shut-off. In my original announcement on the beginning of Accessibility Project (sent out 9/7/16), I stated:


*         The water is not set to be turned off until the usual end of season, unless there is a problem.

Yet, as we know with life, there are always problems! It appears the construction crew has ran into a pipeline and turned off the water in order to fix the pipe. However, there's no guarantee that they will not have future problems running into pipes until the project is over.

So, in regards to the maintenance of the garden, we are fortunate that construction is occurring during the end of the season. While the garden typically still looks stunning till mid-October, with construction occurring, visitor access will be restricted and the public will understand if the garden is not up to its usual beauty.

While I know it's impossible to tell gardeners not to garden (especially when Mother Nature is telling us it's still July), during the next 6 weeks of construction, it's advisable to take a breather and understand that our access to the garden is limited.

I appreciate all you hard, diligent work and devotion to making the Idea Garden the most beautiful place in Champaign County! Ideally, by the end of these 6 weeks many, many more people will be able to appreciate all your work.
