My name is Dhara Patel and I am a research assistant at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I spoke with you earlier today about the recruitment of research participants for one of our studies. As a part of the RERC TechSAge (Rehabilitation Engineering
Research Center on Technologies to Support Successful Aging with Disability) at the University of Illinois, funded by the U.S. government, we are conducting an interview study that explores the challenges older adults with long-term sensory and mobility impairments
have with everyday activities. This project is being conducted by the Human Factors and Aging Laboratory with sites at the University of Illinois and at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Both sites are under the direct supervision of Dr. Wendy Rogers,
who is currently a professor at the University of Illinois but just relocated from Georgia Tech. We are interested in understanding what the challenges are and how they manage these challenges as they age. We would appreciate your help spreading the word to

research participants from, as our goal is to better understand the everyday experiences of older adults who are aging <u>with</u> a disability.</span><span style="color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

This is one-time study consists of two parts: 1) questionnaires (~1 hour) and 2) an interview (~1 hour to 1.5 hours). The interview can be completed in-person if located in the Urbana-Champaign area (on campus, in the participant’s home, or at a community center)
OR remotely via phone call or video call.<br>
<br>
Participants will be compensated $30 for participating.<br>
<br>
Participants must:<br>
<br>
· Be between the ages of 60-79<br>
<br>
· Self-identify with one of the following:<br>
<br>
o Blind/low vision: having serious difficulty seeing even when wearing glasses<br>
<br>
o Deaf/hard of hearing: using American Sign Language (ASL) as primary language for communication<br>
<br>
o Mobility impaired: using a mobility aid (i.e., cane, crutches, wheelchair, walker, or scooter) and having serious difficulty walking or climbing stairs (or unable to walk or climb stairs)<br>
<br>
· Have had the vision, hearing or mobility impairment prior to age 50<br>
<br>
· Be fluent in English or American Sign Language (ASL)<br>
<br>
· Live in the United States<br>
<br>
