Older Adult (60+) Technology Learning Interview Study – Learning to Use Digital Home Assistants
The Human Factors and Aging Laboratory at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is seeking research participants for an IRB-Approved research study, titled “Technology Learning Interview Study”, to understand how older adults learn to use new technologies, specifically those known as “digital home assistants” like the Amazon Echo and Google Nest smart speaker or smart display devices. This study will last about two hours and take place remotely over the internet using the Zoom meeting platform, so you can join from the comfort of your own home!
Specifically, we are looking for participants that meet the following criteria:
· Over the age of 60
· Fluent in English
· Own/use a digital home assistant device FOR TWO YEARS OR LESS. Common examples of digital home assistants include:
o Amazon Echo devices including all Echo smart speakers & Echo Show smart displays
o Google Nest/Home devices including Nest Audio, Nest Mini, Nest Hub smart display,Google Home Mini, Nest Hub, & Nest Hub Max
o Apple HomePod or HomePod Mini
o Other digital home assistant devices with built-in Alexa,Google Assistant, or Siri capabilities
· Able to join a Zoom meeting using an internet-connected computer in an environment suitable for a quality conversation
Participants will be compensated $30 for their time. For more information, please refer to the attached flyer.
