Hi Everyone,

Thank you to everyone who attended Senior Task Force this morning! We had some great discussion and by the end of it had some tangible ideas to run with! I will be compiling our concerns and ideas and putting together the suggestions that we came up with. Once that is composed, I will send it out to the group. Next month we can discuss any progress toward these ideas and how to move forward on them. It is really heartening to see the camaraderie and collective creative brainstorming occur!

Below is a free training on the Illinois mandated reporting requirements for Adult Protective Services. This is a part of an awareness campaign that the Department is spearheading. For anyone who is not sure what to report, when to report, or if they need to report, this this training will provide clarity and peace of mind. Feel free to share this link. The more people we have across the state who are on alert and well informed, the better!

The Illinois Department on Aging's Adult Protective Services Mandated Reporting Requirements

As defined by the Adult Protective Services Act (320 ILCS 20), certain professionals are mandated to report abuse, neglect and exploitation (ANE) to the Illinois Department on Aging's Adult Protective Services Program (APS). Participate in this webinar to learn if you are a designated mandated reporter and how to comply. Department presenters will help you understand the program and its purpose to protect older adults ages 60 and older and persons with disabilities ages 18-59. The webinar will cover forms and indicators of abuse, what constitutes a reportable event, and the critical role and professional obligations professionals play in preventing ANE and intervening when it does occur.
