[SeniorTaskForce-News] Senior Task Force: Senior Task Force and Champaign Farmers Market

As many of you will remember, the purpose of the Senior Task Force is 3 fold:
·         Join together to address gaps in services for seniors in Champaign County.
·         Organize advocacy on senior issues and for senior needs.
·         Strengthen the senior provider community through information and collaboration.


Rey is new in his position but, when he is more grounded, will probably be willing to speak to the group as a whole about his position and the goals of the Land Connection.  For now, it looks like Rey’s ideas coincide with the Task Force purpose in, possibly, several ways.  I am forwarding his email to provide an opportunity to start your thought processes about how his goals might coincide with your own.

Rosanna,

It was nice meeting you last Wednesday.  As we had discussed I'm very interested in the farmers market being a social outlet for our community's seniors, much like the market close to my mother is for her.  Part of my role here at the Land Connection, in addition to managing the farmer's market, is to begin to incorporate the farmer market even more towards the struggle for healthy food access.  I'm coming to this market more from the producer/farmer end of things, but I'm excited to learn and use my new role to help make a difference.  Anyone, discussion or breakout group you can point me towards would be greatly appreciated and please feel free to share my info. See you at the next meeting if not sooner
