SEEKING RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS

Hello,

I’m writing to inform you of a research study to examine ways to prevent falls in individuals living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) who use a wheelchair or scooter.

This study is designed to evaluate the effectiveness of a comprehensive fall management program to decrease the number of falls experienced by wheelchair and scooter users living with MS and help them to develop strategies to recover from a fall. The fall management program will focus on how to transfer, wheelchair skills, exercises to improve sitting balance, assistive device management, environmental factors associated with falls, general knowledge related to MS and fall risk and fall recovery strategies.

Participants will be compensated $100 for participation in the study.
To participate in this study, individuals must be:

· ≥18 years old

· Diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis

· Main form of mobility is via a wheelchair or scooter

· Able to transfer either with moderate assistance or less

· Have experienced at least one fall in the past 12 months

· Able to sit upright for at least 1 hour.
During participation, participants will be asked to attend 3, two-hour study assessments over a period of 32 weeks. In addition, if you participate in study intervention, you will be asked to participate in 6, two-hour education sessions over six consecutive weeks.
