Just a reminder to all of you that the Senior Resource Center here at Family Service was the grateful recipient of a recent generous grant from the Marajen Stevick Foundation through the Community Foundation. The purpose of the grant is to provide one-time emergency medical or emergency food assistance to seniors in our county.

This assistance is available to any eligible senior (60 or older) not just to open clients of the Senior Resource Center. If you have a client or know of someone who might need this type of assistance, please call the Senior Resource Center at 352-5100 and ask to speak to a caseworker. She will be able to help you (or the senior him or herself) assess the situation and determine what assistance we might be able to provide through the grant.

Funds will be distributed to vendors only; no funds will go to clients or second parties. For example, we might pay a pharmacy for a prescription or buy groceries for someone.

If you have general questions about the parameters of the grant, etc., feel free to email me. For specific needs, please contact a caseworker as noted above.

Hope to see you all at a meeting of the Senior Task Force.
