A New Community Resource at First United Methodist Church of Champaign

Through funding from the Stevick Foundation designated for assisting people with memory loss, some books, videotapes, and other resources regarding managing memory loss have been purchased and are available to the Champaign/Urbana community and surrounding areas. These resources are meant to benefit persons with memory loss and/or their family members by increasing their understanding of memory loss and how it may best be managed.

These resources are housed in the Friendship Center area of the Champaign First United Methodist Church on Church Street.  When coming to the church, please park in the rear lot (off of Hill Street).  To enter the building, please press the button to the left of the door and wait for an attendant to release the door.  If asked for the purpose of your visit, please indicate you are there to use the resources for managing memory loss.  The resource area is located on the church's main level (1/2 flight of stairs or elevator ride up) in the back of the main reception area near the library (south part of the Friendship Center area).

Checking out these resources is easy and free:

1. Just sign and date the card in each book or videotape.
2. Place the card in the purple file box on the top of the bookcase.
3. When returning the book or videotape, take the card out of the file box, note the date of return, and place the card back in the book and return it to the shelf.
4. Two weeks is the recommended time for checking out each book or videotape.
