I4A Advocacy ALERT

Prior to adjourning on May 31, 2011, the Senate had appropriated $430
million in additional GRF for the FY2012 budget in a capital spending
bill. The bill included an additional $200,000 for home delivered meals
for FY2012. The House did not concur but the Speaker called for a
conference committee and named conferees. The Leaders in both chambers
are negotiating the capital bill this week and the decisions will most
likely be made on Friday, June 10.

I4A urges advocates for Illinois Seniors to contact their members of the
Illinois House of Representatives today and urge them to include an
additional $200,000 for Home Delivered Meals in the state budget for
FY2012.

Message: "One meal, one life. Illinois can help older adults live at
home for $1.25 a day by supporting home delivered meals. We urge you to
restore $200,000 to provide 160,000 meals next year on behalf of an
estimated 3,000 vulnerable adults."

Thank you.
