For your most serious consideration.

If you can support Director Johnson's reappointment, I suggest that you
use the attached letter as a model and send it to the Governor as soon
as possible.

Thanks you for your continued interest and support of issues related to
healthy and dignified aging! We are all getting older every single day!

Thanks.

Rosanna

Rosanna,

The Illinois Association of Area Agencies on Aging and ECIAAA have sent
letters to Governor Quinn urging him not to accept a letter of
resignation from Charles D. Johnson and to retain him as Director of the
Illinois Department on Aging.

RE: Director Johnson

Due to legislative pressure, Governor Quinn has asked for the
resignation of Director Charles Johnson as Director of the Illinois
Department on Aging.

If you recall in many news outlets, the House and Senate leaders were
calling for the Governor to release ALL Blagoevich holdovers. In fact,
the House attempted to pass legislation to do just that.

Late in December, after the election, Governor Quinn was again
approached and the recommendation made that he seek the resignation of
ALL current agency directors who had any ties with the previous
Blagoevich administration. Right before the Holidays, the Governor did
just that.

What we are seeking is for the Governor re re-appoint Director Johnson
as the head of IDoA. Director Johnson has always had the interest of
the senior population at the center of his quest and believes strongly
in the Community Care Program. Under his leadership we have seen much
expansion and improvements. We don't want to lose this momentum and as
such several agencies and associations are requesting that Governor
Quinn re-appoint the Director to his position.

Attached to this memo is the letter that the Association has sent to
Governor Quinn with this request and we would encourage all members to
do likewise, either using the format that we used or one of your own
design.

Thank you,

Bob Thieman, CAE
