There is a lot going on right now at the state level. This is another
opportunity to advocate for services for older adults for your serious
consideration.
Thank you.

RE: Proposed FY 12 cuts talking points
Kudos to Kim Cox for working diligently on this and for others in
putting this in a very concise process.
These are the talking points for your conversation with the Governor's
office when you begin making your calls. Be certain to enlist staff and
clients if possible to voice their desire to keep the CCP program viable
for all seniors in Illinois. We need to be heard and that comes from
the grass roots efforts of the membership. Thank you for your efforts
in this.
AARP has assured me that the number will be active for the Governor's
office Thursday through all of next week. We want to make as much noise
as possible on Thursday so ring the phones as much as possible. The
Governor's budget address is scheduled for the 16th of February. We
will know a little more accurately what is in store after that and then
with the IDoA meeting to discuss the department's budget we will know
more as to what needs to be done.
For now we have to get the Governor to back off these draconian cuts.
The toll free number that AARP has made available is: 800-664-9903
starting Thursday, February 16, 2010. The direct toll number is
217-782-0244 however tracking the effectiveness of the calls is limited
using this number.
Thank you,
Bob
