Good morning!
I want to make you aware of an opportunity coming up in our community
this fall. On October 27th the annual Mental Health and Aging
Conference will be held at the Holiday Inn in Urbana. I am on the
planning committee for the conference and wanted to make the Senior Task
Force aware of this event for 2 reasons.
First, if you have an interest in mental health and aging, we plan to
make this a very affordable event and we will be offering CEUs, so "save
the date." We don't have all the speakers confirmed yet, but I will let
you know when we do.
Secondly, we are looking for people who would like to share their
professional information through a display or exhibition table. Again,
we want to make this very affordable; the cost is only $25.00. We
expect 150 people coming from all over central Illinois. There will be
time available for people to peruse displays and chat with exhibitors
during registration (8:30-9:00 a.m.), during a time set aside for that
purpose (from 10:00 - 10:30), and again at lunch which will be an hour
and fifteen minutes so that people do have time to spend in the
exhibition hall. Our target audience is health care, geriatric, and
mental health professionals.
If you would like to be kept informed of conference details as they are
available, please let me know. Or, if you are interested in providing a
staffed exhibit, please let me know that, too!
Also,
Just a reminder that the Senior Task Force will be meeting on Wednesday,
July 21st at 9:00 at Lincoln Square Village.
A copy of the agenda follows. Due to the potential for lots of
questions and answers, we will be having only one speaker in July.
* Recent and Popular Scams Involving Older Adults
* Dan Walsh, Champaign County Sheriff
As always, there will be time to share new programs or services,
upcoming events of interest to the community, new collaborations or
workgroups, etc.
Patrick and I hope to see you there. If you have any information on
scams reported in our area, please bring that information with you.
