Mike O'Donnell is the Executive Director of the East Central Illinois
Area Agency on Aging and I4A is their state association.

These cuts will mean serious, dangerous cuts in service to older adults.


 

Please give serious consideration to contacting the governor and state
reps to let them know this is highly unacceptable especially in an era
where the number of seniors is growing so rapidly.  Every call counts.
Every older adult needs to make his/her beliefs heard.

I4A Advocacy Alert

 

The State Budget passed by the General Assembly spells disaster for
hundreds of thousands of Illinois residents - that could mean your
friends, family, neighbors, and maybe even yourself.  It slashes health
care and prescription drug assistance, closes Illinois veteran's homes
and eliminates the elder abuse program as well as programs providing
critical community services for older Illinoisans.

 

I4A and the Alliance for Home and Community Care oppose the devastating
cuts passed by the General Assembly.  We are calling upon the Governor,
Legislative Leaders and all Members of the General Assembly to return to
Springfield and fix the budget before these cuts take effect.

 

Attached please find a call to action and a flyer from AARP and the
Alliance for Home and Community Care providing further details on the
impact of State Budget cuts.  I4A thanks AARP for providing a toll-free
number to help advocates contact Members of the General Assembly.

 

You can make a difference.  Contact the Governor at 312-814-2121 and
your State Representatives and Senators today at 1-888-616-3322 and tell
them to return to the Capitol and pass a budget that truly serves the
people of Illinois, especially older adults and persons with
disabilities.
