<p>Saturday, November 5 has been set as "Put the Garden to Bed" day at the Idea Garden. This is a “ya’ll come” as extra hands are always welcome! Official start time is 9 a.m.</p>
<p>This is a great opportunity for Master Gardeners meet and work with other sections and see how their season went and what’s in store for 2017. Big workdays such as this are a great opportunity for new and lost Master Gardeners get reacquainted with the garden! Don’t be shy and come out for a great day of comradery and gardening.</p>
<p>Rain date for Put the Idea Garden to Bed is set for the following <strong>Saturday, November 12</strong>.</p>
<p><strong><em>V: National Study on Extension Master Gardeners</em></strong></p>
<p><em>Dear Champaign County Master Gardener volunteers,</em></p>
<p><em>Our county has been asked to contribute to a survey for a national study of Extension Master Gardener volunteers that is being conducted by University of Georgia and Iowa State University. Our Sandy, our interim state coordinator, and I are planning to participate, and we encourage you to, as well. </em></p>
<p><strong><em>This is a legitimate study, and </em></strong><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong><em>you may record an hour of volunteer service time</em></strong></span><strong><em><span style="color: #ff0000;"> after you have participated in the survey</span>. Study conductors request that Master Gardeners who completed training in 2016 please refrain from the study. Both active and inactive volunteers are encouraged to participate.</em></strong></p>

<p>Dear Extension Master Gardener,</p>
<p>The University of Georgia and Iowa State University are working together on a research study entitled, “A National Study of Motivations of Extension Master Gardeners.” The results of this study have the potential to benefit all of us, and we need your help to make it happen!</p>
<p>The survey uses Qualtrics survey software to present the questions and collect responses. You can respond to the survey using a tablet or computer. Accessing the survey link is not harmful to your computer. The link will take you directly to an online survey where you simply click your responses or type in short answers. Completion of this online Motivations survey should take about 30 minutes.</p>

<p>Along with the “Put the Idea Garden to Bed” Saturday, November 5 is also a chance for you to clear out some of the "stuff" in your garage/shed/storage area that you no longer use in your own garden! This will be the second annual <em>Sell or Swap Event</em>. The <em>Sell or Swap</em> will begin at 10 a.m. Anything gardening-related is welcome! Bring your extra/unused stuff to sell or swap with your fellow Master Gardeners. The Shed Committee will also have a selection of “stuff” from the Idea Garden shed that fellow gardeners may find useful for next year’s projects.</p>
<p>Some examples of "stuff" that we had at last year's Sell or Swap: ceramic flower pots, fencing, tools, rebar, garden art, and some things that can only be classified as "gizmos."</p>
