<p>Summer is rapidly disappearing and the conference is only 7 weeks away- time to register and get your hotel room reserved asap!<br /> <br />Really Informative Tours- There are still spaces available on 3 tours. Full day Tour 1 will give you a great chance to view MG/MN projects from all over Unit 22. You can talk with the Master Gardeners who run these projects and find out new ideas to incorporate in your own projects. Master Naturalists will love the Half Day Tour 1 with visits to a 27 acre prairie restoration and the Riverland’s Audubon Center. Half day Tour 2 will visit some of the area’s Hort highlights like Heimos Nursery and Eckert’s Farm. If you prefer classes to tours- check out the “Make-it and Take-it” classes on Thursday afternoon. These are really cool craft projects- no artistic ability needed!</p>

<li>Outstanding Speakers- Our speaker line-up is super! This is highlighted by our keynote speaker on Friday, the “creator” of the Edible Landscape movement- Rosalind Creasy! Mike Jeffords and Susan Post will keynote on Saturday. You may recognize their names from the Natural History Survey and the <em>Illinois Steward </em>magazine. The list of incredible topics goes on from there with sessions on natives, plant materials, design and edibles. <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Did you know that attending conference will fulfill a whole years’ worth of required CEUs</span>?</li>
<li>Opportunity to network with other Volunteers- I am told year after year that volunteers really value the opportunity to meet other Master Gardeners (or Master Naturalists) from around the state to learn what they are doing and to “talk shop”. New ideas galore! </li>
<li>Honor the state award winners- This is the one time a year that we can honor the terrific work you do. Come support your fellow volunteers who are winning awards and learn about award winning projects from other parts of the state. While you are here- why not take some classes and tours?</li>
<li>Shopping, Shopping, Shopping- Did I mention shopping? We have a great line-up of vendors- everything from plants to papercrete pots to photography. Unit 22 will be selling “gently used” and popular Horticulture books. Three of our speakers will be selling their books as well. Don’t forget the silent auction- great items and the profits of this sale go to the MG mini-grants! Cash and checks only.</li>
<li>Great location- This region of the state is a mecca for both commercial nurseries and businesses as well as great gardens- public and private. If you can’t make a tour- plan to visit some local spots before or after conference.</li>
<li>Low price!- Registration for Friday and Saturday is only $130- and this includes lunches, snacks, a cool conference bag full of goodies, handouts on a jump drive, vendors and more. Thursday tours are an additional fee. You can attend 2 days of classes and tours for less than $200- what a bargain! Compare this to the International conference which costs from $385 to $440 and you will agree this is a bargain.</li>
