Discover the importance of pollinators in our ecosystem. This day-long workshop will focus on hummingbirds, bees, butterflies and other pollinators. Also learn about landscaping and native plants that attract these pollinators. You will have a hands-on opportunity to create a Mason Bee house to help attract bees to your garden or a pollination pot to attract hummingbirds, bees and butterflies.

The program costs $25 which includes the cost of hands-on activities.
Tour – Tuesday, July 21, 5 pm – 7 pm

Freshwater is precious to living things and it is becoming increasingly scarce due to misuse, pollution, and climate change. Rain gardens are a beautiful way to help keep clean, fresh rainwater out of the sewer system and to reduce pollution and preserve our water systems. Further, a rain garden can support threatened pollinators when they include native plants vital to pollinating insects and birds. And you don't have to be a scientist or ecologist to establish a successful rain garden.

The Champaign County Master Gardeners and the East Central Illinois Master Naturalists invite you to learn more about rain gardens at the following events:

Rain Garden lecture on Monday, July 13 6:30-8:00pm, UI Extension Auditorium, 801 N. Country Fair Drive, Champaign, IL 61821

Rain Garden tour on Tuesday, July 21 5:00-7:00pm, Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation, 302 N 1st St, Champaign, IL 61820

The Rain Garden tour will be limited to 40 participants and requires attendance at the Rain Garden lecture. Participants will be expected to carpool in groups of four or more from the starting location (Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation).
