<p><strong>There are only 17 seats left on the bus for our trip on May 1st and registration is now open to friends and family!</strong></p>
<p>Champaign, Ford, Iroquois and Vermilion County Master Gardeners will be traveling to the Indianapolis Museum of Art to view the Oldfield’s Gardens on <strong>Friday, May 1</strong>. The day will include a tour of the Oldfield gardens, followed by an afternoon of enjoying the museum. The bus will stop at Avon Gardens in Avon, IN on the trip home.</p>
<p><strong>MG’s wearing nametags receive 20% off at Avon Gardens. We leave Danville at 8am and return at about 5pm. Cost $35 does not include lunch.</strong></p>

<p><strong>Saturday, June 20</strong>, is this year’s date for our celebrated Garden Walk - and it is fast approaching. Since Garden Walk is our only event to raise funds that support all of our activities, we certainly want to insure its ongoing success. And for that, assistance is needed from the entire Master Gardener community – especially YOU! </p>
<p>Please volunteer to help with one (or both) of the following activities:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Garden Angels </strong>help with light garden work at the Garden Walk sites (such as raking, weeding, mulching), in order to get them looking their best for the big day. <br /> The work will be done <em>before</em> the Garden Walk (mostly between June 1 and June 19). A few Garden Angels will be assigned to a specific garden; others will be part of a <br /> pool who will be contacted as needed. </li>
</ul>
<p>Some Garden Angels also may be needed earlier than usual (maybe in April and May) for work at the Pollinatarium site.</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Site Volunteers</strong> work at the Garden Walk sites <em>on the day of</em> Garden Walk to help greet and guide visitors, answer questions, and assist the Site Chairs and homeowner.<br /> Site Volunteers will be assigned to a specific home/garden for a morning or afternoon shift. They also have the opportunity to visit the garden and meet with the Site Chairs prior to the Garden Walk.</li>
</ul>

<p>Has your backyard has been overtaken by burning bush, but you don't remember planting burning bush? Invasive plants are those that "escape" from other landscapes. Horticulture educators Jennifer Fishburn and Martha Smith will consider alternatives to landscape plants that are being “watched’ as becoming problematic. <p>Master Gardeners who wear their name badges will receive a 10% discount on plant materials after the tour. <p>Join Champaign County Master Gardeners on Tuesday, May 19 at 6:30 pm for a Make-It and Take-It Succulent Workshop. Attendees will make their own mini-succulent container with Vermilion County Master Gardener, Charlie Cullom. Charlie is a representative for International Greenhouse Supply in Tilton, IL and has done this workshop in the Danville area. Charlie will share his knowledge about succulents, including design options and growing requirements.</p>
<p>All supplies and plants will be provided: just bring your gloves and trowel and join in the fun!</p>

<p><strong>Registration is officially open for friends/family of Master Gardeners!</strong></p>
<p>Champaign, Ford, Iroquois and Vermilion County Master Gardeners will be traveling to the Indianapolis Museum of Art to view the Oldfield’s Gardens on <strong>Friday, May 1</strong>. The day will include a tour of the Oldfield gardens, followed by an afternoon of enjoying the museum. The bus will stop at Avon Gardens in Avon, IN on the trip home.</p>
