<p>The Juvenile Detention Center has decided to postpone the workday until next <span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>Friday, April 17 at 11:00 am</strong></span>. The Landscape Recycling Center is concerned that they won't be able to drive up on the lawn to deliver our mulch and compost after the rain that's predicted for this evening and tomorrow morning. They are also concerned that the garden will be too wet to work in. </p>
<p>Please join them next Friday, April 17 at 11:00 am.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><strong>Idea Garden Wake-Up the Garden - April 11 at 8 am</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 10.6666669845581px;">The Idea Garden workday scheduled for this <strong>Saturday, April 11 at 8 am</strong> will continue as planned. Master Gardener Tri-Chairs Julie Steele, Kathryn Fletcher, and Debbie Nelson will announce tomorrow afternoon is the workday will be reshcduled. </span></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><strong>University of Illinois Horticulture Flower Show - April 11-12</strong></span></span></p>
<p>Master Gardener volunteers are needed to staff a booth at the University of Illinois Horticulture Club Flower show. This event takes place<strong> Saturday April 11 from 9 am till 5 pm and Sunday April 12</strong> <strong>from 10 am till 2 pm</strong> during Mom’s Weekend for the University of Illinois. The Horticulture Club Flower Show takes place in the Stock Pavilion (1402 W. Pennsylvania, Urbana).</p>

<p>Master Gardener volunteers will be expected to offer information about the Master Gardener program, its goals, purpose, and activities. Volunteers may also be asked garden-related questions, which a Master Gardener manual will be available to reference.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><strong>Pollinatarium Workday - April 11-12</strong></span></span></p>
<p>Honeysuckle has claimed the edge of the road from Windsor to the Pollinatarium to the point where buses bringing in grade school children are having difficulty. <strong>Three work sessions are planned for Saturday, April 11 from 9—11 and 1—4 and Sunday from 1—4</strong>. On April 11 and 12 a coordinated effort by the Pollinatarium, Arboretum, and some student organizations will tackle this problem. Help from the conservation community at large is needed for this large effort. </p>
<p>Most people will be helping move cut brush – mostly honeysuckle— to stacks along the road to await chipping. Others will use loppers. The arboretum is renting a chipper and persons with herbicide licenses, and the right credentials to us a chain saw on campus property are especially needed. If enough people show up we will also remove honeysuckle from the west edge of the Pollinatarium lot. Red Bison made a big effort at that area last week. There is a restroom at the Pollinatarium.</p>
<p>It would help with planning if people would sign up at the doodle poll (originated by Red Bison) below, although it is not necessary. </p>

<p>Gloves and safety glasses (to avoid being hit by twigs) are a good idea. There is work for all ages from grade school up.</p>
<p>The road into the site is on the North side of Windsor between Race and Lincoln. Bee hives are visible and there is a sign. The Arboretum intends to begin restoring the wooded area along the road and introducing native trees and woodland forbes and other plants.</p>

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Champaign County Nursing Home Workday - Monday, April 13 at 9 am</span></strong></span></p>
<p>You are welcome to join us at the Champaign County Nursing Home garden located behind the Nursing Home on the East side. Our first work/clean-up day is this coming <strong>Monday, April 13 beginning at 9:00 AM</strong>. </p>
<p>We work most Monday mornings beginning at 9 (<strong>not</strong> 8:00 as listed in the Master calendar) For the rest of the season we will be sending out weekly reminders as well as cancellation notices when the weather interferes to just those who have volunteered in the past or have expressed an interest in working at the garden.
