[CCMG-Announce] Garden Walk Information

Fellow Master Gardeners:

 

For a while now, we have been looking forward to celebrating the 25th
anniversary of the Garden Walk. Too bad it is not the 25th anniversary of
the Garden Walk. It turns out that it is the anniversary of the Master
Gardener program. The first class was in 1992, 25 years ago. The first
Garden Walk was in 1995, 22 years ago. 

 

A few days ago, I sent an email to Sandy Mason, asking if she had a copy of
the first Garden Walk ticket or flyer. My idea was to use a blank page in
the booklet to show one or both of these historic documents. Of course,
Sandy had both documents. I immediately saw that the Garden Walk was in
1995. I have forgotten all of my calculus, but I can still subtract. This
was bad. 

 

Sandy and I had a discussion before the Advisory Board meeting and quickly
came to the same conclusion. We will not worry about the postcards that have
already been printed, but I would change the wording on the posters and
booklet. Instead of "Mastering the Garden, 25th Garden Walk Anniversary,"
the poster now reads "Mastering the Garden, 25th Master Gardener
Anniversary." This is where you come in. Please erase from your brain that
it is the Garden Walk's anniversary and remember that it is the Champaign
County Master Gardener's anniversary as you talk to people about the walk.
It is just like the ninth season of Dallas.

 

Enjoy the weather, look for Garden Walk tickets in your mailbox soon, and
don't forget to volunteer for the Garden Walk.
