Good morning Master Gardeners and Master Naturalists!

  1.  The City of Urbana is hosting another rain barrel and compost bin sale on May 6 from 9am to noon at the parking lot North of the City Building on Vine St. Pre-order is mocked up at www.RainBarrelFundraising.com/Urbana<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.RainBarrelFundraising.com_Urbana&d=DwMFAg&c=8hUWFZcy2Z-Za5rBPlktOQ&r=v7icz0p4N69Z-9cJHN9s6AoJo67KQbcYruo-uWgUgZ8&m=9HJRgRhdpqHizfZKhJ7UigySYSwLqvqnNAsI80Qwxr0&s=zjKQlG_zHxuzN3DBn0q-vzhah8rTjotQgUUjcON-lKg&e=>. They would love to have an Extension table set up at the event with some public education on water conservation and composting. All materials will be provided.


  1.  A second-grade teacher at Leal Elementary is looking for a couple of Master Gardeners or Master Naturalists to help at their Annual Science Night. The event is on Friday, April 28th from about 6:30-8:00pm. It is generally very well attended. Last year they helped us to make seed tape for vegetable gardens. This year however, we were given native prairie plant seeds, and milkweed seeds. The volunteers would help students and families plant some pollinator/native seeds. This could be done in peat pots with soil, or they could even make "seed bombs". We can provide most or all of the materials, we just need the knowledge and volunteers to get the seeds used effectively.
