There have been many questions regarding registration for this event. The Japan House is hosting the event and does not have a registration requirement. Interested participants need only to show up at the parking lot South of the Japan House on November 18 and 19 starting at 8 a.m. and work until days end at 4:30 p.m., weather permitting.

Aesthetic Pruning Workshop at Japan House
November 18-19
Jay Skuba, of Zoen Sekkei-Sha+Associates, Lake Forest, Illinois will be leadning a hands-on Aesthetic Pruning effort at Japan House (2000 South Lincoln Ave., Urbana). Participants will meet in the parking lot South of the Japan House on Novmever 18 and 19 starting at 8 a.m. and work until days end at 4:30 p.m., weather permiting.
There will be a short lunch break from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. Pack a lunch and be sure to bring plenty of drinking water. Dress for weather conditions since all work is outside.
The pruning sessions are open to all Japan House volunteers, Master Gardeners, ISA Certified Arborists, IAA Member Arborists, University of Illinois students of Landscape Architecture and Ornamental Horticulture.
Aesthetic Pruning is out of the scope of most garden pruning. Sessions aim to sharpen the aesthetic eye and guidance which can be universally applied by gardeners and arborists alike.
This 2-day workshop is designed to lift pruning skills of participants to a higher level by working in a Japanese-style (Wafu) Garden. the foucs will include bringing out the essential beauty and natural character of trees, drawing attention to their form, and stopping short of tight control or artifice.
This workshop in support of the Japan House is sponsored by Zoen Sekkei-Sha+Associates of Lake Forest, Illinois, which is a design, build and maintain landscape company, specializing in Japanese-style Gardens and Water Features.
***This event will count towards Continuing Education for Master Gardeners.
