1.     The National Wildlife Federation - Last year the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) launched the Mayors' Monarch Pledge - a campaign to get mayors AND other local government chief executives to commit to help save the monarch butterfly by improving habitat and engaging citizens.  To date 190 mayors have taken the pledge and we're looking for municipalities of all sizes to join in the effort. Mayors will be asked to sign the pledge statement and assign a staff member to follow up with NWF on the specific actions you will undertake in your community.  These actions range from issuing a proclamation to changing mowing practices to creating a demonstration garden at city hall.

2.     The voluntary sign-up for the Illinois Monarch Butterfly Specialty License Plate is open!
The specialty license plate fees will support the Roadside Monarch Habitat Fund. Two thousand requests must be received before the specialty license plate sticker is produced. There is a $10 non-refundable fee required with the submission of your sign-up request.
