Top 10 Tree Diseases and Insects Workshop - Thursday, April 28

Do you want to gain better skills at the Master Gardener help desks? We know that the help desks fill up with questions about trees. Do you ever feel you don't know where to start?

Start with this workshop provided in Bloomington, IL on April 28. Learn from Plant Clinic Diagnostician and Kelly (aka the Bug Lady)  about the Top 10 Diseases and Insects on Trees.


Top 10 Tree Diseases & Insects workshop will take place from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 28 at the McLean County Extension office at 1615 Commerce Parkway, Bloomington. The workshop will include an hour and a half presentation on both insects and diseases, with an hour break for lunch on your own.

University of Illinois Extension Horticulture Educator, Kelly Allsup, and Plant Diagnostician Outreach Specialist, Diane Plewa will address the most likely culprits of tree decline in your backyard. The university receives an extensive amount of questions regarding tree health, including the not so simple question, "what is wrong with my tree?" During this session on tree diagnosis, we will help the master Gardeners  attempt to answer that question.

Telltale signs and symptoms exhibited by trees from the most notorious insects and diseases in Central Illinois will be discussed. Learn when and how to send plant samples to the University of Illinois Plant Clinic for a definitive diagnosis and recommendation.

Participants will leave with educational handouts to assist with identifying these tree insects and diseases easier, and the knowledge to help prevent them from infecting their trees.

This award winning program has been honored by the White House, on CNN Heroes, TEDx talk, and lots more.
