Jump down to sub/unsub form Champaign County Master Gardeners On-Line (CCMGOL) is an informal discussion list whose membership is limited to trained Champaign County Master Gardeners and Master Gardener trainees. The Champaign County Master Gardeners have been formed to work with the Horticulture Educator of the Champaign County Unit of the Illinois Extension Service at the University of Illinois to provide unbiased, research-based horticultural information to the public; develop continuing education opportunities for Champaign County Master Gardeners to improve and upgrade their skills; provide recreational and social opportunities for Champaign County Master Gardeners; and provide opportunities for fundraising to support the Champaign County Master Gardeners. The purpose of the list is to provide information, support, encouragement and motivation to CCMGs. Official CCMG business must be resolved through the CCMG Executive Committee, the CCMG Advisory Board, and the CCMG membership. List Usage Guidelines Members of this list are expected to observe commonly held and understood rules for behavior in an electronic forum. Remember that CCMGOL can be read by anyone. Please Mind Your Manners. We are building the public image of CCMG at all times. If the CCMGOL administration observes problems in this area, we will contact the individuals privately. We reserve the right to remove subscribers who choose not to abide by these guidelines. Uses of the list Pass along information about meetings, workshops, social events. Share suggestions and helpful gardening information. Bring up questions and concerns you have encountered as an MG. Give each other support and encouragement. Guidelines for messages Always get permission from the sender before quoting text from private email. In general, do not send attachments to the list. Messages should include only text, not graphics or scanned pictures. If you need to make a large Word document or PDF file available to all Master Gardeners, you may send it to your Listmom who can make it available on the Web and give you a link to include in your email. Be aware the if you use fancy backgrounds and formatting in your messages, it may cause delivery problems or problems for recipients with older computers and email programs. To share garden photos, please use a Web-based service like Webshots [www.webshots.com] or Flickr [flickr.com] and include only a link in your message. Send only relevant and necessary messages. Change the Subject: line to reflect a change of topic. Keep responses concise and trim out unnecessary text from the message to which you are responding. Where possible, cite references or sources for horticultural information you post. Plant sales and sales of garden items Advertising the following types of non-commercial or private sales is acceptable: giveaways or private plant sales (aka Support The Habit sales) fundraising plant sales by non-profit organizations (e.g. Herb Society, Grand Prairie Friends, etc.) Although commercial advertising as such is not allowed, it is acceptable to post recommendations or a shoppers' alerts for a commercial nursery, garden center or online catalogs provided you are not affiliated with the business in question. In general, please do not post garden items for sale unless they are of special interest to MGs. Subscribers may be removed from the list at the administrators' discretion for the following reasons: The subscriber is not an active Champaign County Master Gardener. The subscriber's e-mail address is causing repeated delivery failures. The subscriber chooses not to abide by the list guidelines set out above. Subscribing to CCMGOL
Subscribe to CCMGOL by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. Once confirmation is received, your request will be held for approval by the list moderator. You will be notified of the moderator's decision by email. This is also a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator. Your email address:   Your name (optional):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription. You can always request a mail-back of your password when you edit your personal options. Once a month, your password will be emailed to you as a reminder.
